About the Event

Centered around the treatment of persistent neurosomatic symptoms (e.g. pain, fatigue, anxiety, headaches, IBS, IC, insomnia, depression, etc), this 5-week class, which meets from 6-745 over five Monday evenings (July 13th, 20th, 27th, & Aug 3rd, 10th), is meant for those who have an increasing suspicion that their symptoms are due to neurosomatic sensitization and are curious and courageous enough to begin the process of unlearning them. Issues discussed including the following: the importance of clarifying and accepting the right diagnosis; building skills to desensitize and reduce the danger alarm in the nervous system; deconditioning triggers; working w/ attention and pressure; graded exposure; practices for emotional awareness and expression. All attendees must have attended the "Pain Science is Brain Science" intro lecture (either at CIM or a previous equivalent - exceptions possible w/ approval) and, often, a consultation w/ Dr. McClanahan. The cost of this 5-wk series is $320, but $20 fee for the introcuctory "Pain Science..." lecture applies to this cost, so for most the cost is $300.
